A couple of weeks ago, Kia brought the 2022 Telluride concept to the Detroit auto show, and now it’s official. While the current version is a tad less radical than the concept, there are some parts that will make its production-bound sibling more attractive. The telluride, which will be built alongside the Niro EV and Optima Plug-In Hybrid, will be powered by the same 1.6-liter turbo-charged engine that’s in the current Niro, and it will do 0-60 mph in under six seconds. That’s the same performance as the Niro Hybrid, but it will have better fuel economy, thanks to a new 16-inch alloy wheel.
The 2022 Kia Telluride has been spied a couple of times, but now the new Kia Telluride has been caught in its full body, giving us a better look at the pretty colors and the overall design.
The 2022 Kia Telluride has officially arrived and it brings with it some welcome updates. The Telluride has been a sales success in recent years, even surpassing the Sorento by a significant margin, despite its recent arrival on the market. As you can imagine, this mid-size SUV still has to wait for a full update. This simply means that the 2022 model will undergo subtle changes rather than major upgrades.
According to Kia’s recent announcement, the new 2022 model has a few surprises in store. First, you get more safety equipment as standard. However, you will have to pay a bit more for this SUV later on. Let’s take a look at the equipment levels and see what they look like.

A few days ago, we saw leaked images of what appears to be a 2022 Kia Telluride, parked outside with no camouflage hiding its upgrades. The first change you will notice is a completely new Kia logo. We’ve already seen this with the K5 model, so it was only a matter of time before Telluride would do the same.
In addition to the new logo, the 2022 model gets an all-new grille. It’s a subtle upgrade that slightly refreshes the front of the vehicle without requiring a full facelift. While this is a significant change from a branding standpoint, you probably won’t see much difference when you see the 2021 and 2022 models side-by-side on the road.
Fortunately, there are a few more reasons why you might be better off waiting for the 2022 model instead of buying the 2021 model.
2022 Telluride | Kia
As you might expect, the 2022 Kia Telluride still offers an abundance of standard technology. The main difference, however, is that features previously reserved for the higher trim levels have been transferred to the lower levels. On the surface, there’s a 10.25-inch central infotainment screen. Previously, buyers interested in the lower trim levels of the LX and S received an eight-inch screen. However, a larger screen is now standard.
In addition to a larger screen, the 2022 Kia Telluride’s base trims also get automatic temperature control, roadside assistance and smart cruise control. While these changes are not significant, you can easily save money by forgoing the higher trim levels to get these technical features. Unfortunately, this is a small price increase.
2022 Telluride | Kia
APPROPRIATE: The 2022 Kia K5 gets a small price increase – the most expensive model starts at $31,090.
That’s right. The 2022 Kia Telluride will cost you a little more. However, this amount varies depending on the chosen finishing level. The base LX FWD model, for example, starts at $32,790, which is $600 more than the 2021 model. The same goes for the front-wheel-drive S model, which starts at $35,290, also a $600 increase. If you choose a higher equipment level, you will benefit from a lower price increase. The EX FWD model now starts at $37,790, which is an increase of $200. The same goes for the top-of-the-line SX FWD model, which starts at $42,690, an increase of $200.
Whatever trim level you choose, you can’t go wrong with the added technology and updated design.
