Chevrolet, according to Pickup Truck News, may be following the practice of resurrecting classic car nameplates. The Chevy Kodiak may make a comeback as a limited edition in 2022.

The Kodiak may be a stand-alone vehicle or an available trim level for Chevy Silverado Heavy-Duty trucks. We’re still hoping to hear more about the Kodiak, but thus yet just rumors have surfaced.

The 2022 Chevy Kodiak may make a comeback as a one-of-a-kind special edition that pays homage to its history as the ideal utility vehicle for hauling big loads and getting the job done. In 1980, the first Chevy Kodiak was introduced as a medium-duty truck.

The original Kodiak had the same cab as the medium-duty C/K trucks, but the hood was five inches shorter. It was available as a straight truck and semi-tractor with single and tandem axle versions.

The second generation of the Kodiak and GMC TopKick were released in 1990. Two-door and four-door models were still available, and a new, more aerodynamic design was introduced to enhance fuel efficiency.

To compete with competitors such as the International DuraStar, the Kodiak and TopKick were updated in 2003. To lower the cab floor and improve cab capacity, they shifted to a vertical-oriented cab layout. The most current model was introduced in 2010 before being phased out owing to low interest and sales.

Although General Motors hasn’t revealed much about the 2022 Chevy Kodiak, there are a few speculations to consider. The new Kodiak will most likely be a special edition trim for the Silverado HD series, rather than a standalone vehicle.

It’s likely that a new engine for the Kodiak may be created. However, the 6.6-liter Duramax V8 engine is more likely to be installed in the truck. It has a power output of 445 horsepower and a torque output of 910 lb-ft. It could also get a few updates to boost its performance and fuel economy.

The regular and crew cab versions of the Kodiak are anticipated to be offered, although the inside will be different from the previous model. It’s anticipated to look more like the cab of the Chevy Silverado 1500 in 2021.

However, the 2018 Chevy Kodiak may have distinctive elements such as a more aggressive grille, new LED headlights, badging, and interior color pops. The cab’s materials might also be more robust.

It’s reasonable to assume that contemporary conveniences like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard. As optional additions, a wireless charging pad and a multi-functional tailgate may be included.

The Chevy Kodiak will almost certainly return as a daily car and a tough worker. It should be both comfy and strong in order to be an excellent choice for work locations. But we’ll have to wait and see what else comes up. The Kodiak may come as early as 2022.
