Caravan rental is very popular
In recent years, peer-to-peer leasing of recreational vehicles has become increasingly popular in the United States. We can’t say we’re surprised, because the concept just makes sense. On the one hand, motorhome owners can earn extra income when their motorhome is not in use and, on the other hand, outdoor enthusiasts have access to a more authentic motorhome service at competitive prices. It’s like Airbnb for vans. In this RVezy magazine, we take a look at RVezy, one of the leading RV rental markets, to see if this really is the EZY way to rent a recreational vehicle.
RVezy was founded in 2016 by two Canadian entrepreneurs who were looking for an easier and safer way to lease their recreational vehicle. With what they call the first owner, RVezy quickly became the largest x-ray rental market in Canada. RVezy president and co-founder Michael McNaught attributes his success to understanding the needs of RV owners.
As owners, we know what is involved in renting out your recreational vehicle. From insurance to tenant inspections to customer service, everything we do is designed to make the experience as easy and safe as possible.
Michael McNaught is the co-founder of RVezy.
After more than 150,000 successful bookings in Canada, the company decided in June 2020 that it was time to enter the U.S. market. In this RVezy magazine, we look at what the rental process looks like.
Van rental Process
The rental process with RVezy is very simple. You can view available RVs on their website RVezy.com or download their mobile app (iOS and Android) to manage reservations and communicate with owners while on the go.

You start by entering the place and date of your trip. The location is where the van is to be picked up or where it is to be delivered. Once you click the Search button, you will see all available listings and their locations on a scrolling map. You can refine your search by using one of the available filters, including Motorhome Type, Suitable for Pets, Price and Delivery Options. For this RVezy magazine, we will be looking at recreational vehicle rentals in Phoenix, Arizona.
Choosing a recreational vehicle with RVezy is a simple point-and-click process.
RVezy Review – New kid in town, similar to
RWezi is new in town. After years of success in Canada, RVezy is now experiencing rapid growth in the United States. However, because the RVezy is new in the United States, we found that most of the RVs we reviewed had not yet been evaluated. We have confirmed that they have received many positive responses to the Canadian list.
Once you have found the ideal caravan or motorhome, it is time to book. On the right side of the screen is a date and some fields for guests, so the owner knows how many people want to use the camper. Prices are automatically adjusted according to the duration of your trip according to the discounts offered by the owner. Generally 10% for weekday movements and 20% for monthly movements. The reservation request also includes mileage limitations (if applicable) and additional fees such as insurance, 24-hour roadside assistance and taxes.
RVezy reservation request
After clicking on Booking Request, you will be directed to two more screens that will ask you to tell the owner the details of your trip and choose the protection plan you want. You can also choose the options offered by the owner of the camper for example. B. Delivery, barbecue, generator or even airport transfers. All assemblies are clearly visible on the right. After submitting your reservation request, the owner can either accept or decline it. As with any peer-to-peer service, the responsiveness of the owners varies. According to RWESI, most owners respond within 24-48 hours. In addition, some owners offer an instant booking feature that speeds up the booking process by allowing you to pay and confirm your reservation within 24 hours. It can save your life if you want to leave at the last minute.
RVezy offers two levels of protection
Communication with the owner
If you want to use your credit card, you can use mail so you can chat with your customer. You can ask questions and arrange the logistics of your rental. Most owners are relatively flexible with regard to pick-up and drop-off times and are willing to accommodate special requests. Since the recreational vehicle is privately owned, each owner offers different equipment and packages.
In most cases, landlords respond quickly and are happy to answer tenants’ questions. RVezy customer service is always available, but specific questions about the functionality of the vehicle or what is included in the rental price are best handled by the owner. Like the owners of Airbnb, RV owners also like to give renters travel tips and tricks to enhance their vacation.
Payments and related charges
That’s the way rent works:
If you book more than 37 days in advance, a 25% deposit is required. Then, 37 days before the start date, your credit card will be charged for the remaining 75%. If you book 37 days or less before the start date of your stay, the total amount shown on your reservation will be charged immediately. 72 hours prior to departure, you will be charged the amount of the guarantee shown on your reservation details. This amount will be retained for the duration of your trip and refunded to you at the end of your trip on the website or in the application.
Recreational vehicle rental companies also charge owners and renters fees for customer service, advertising recreational vehicles, managing insurance products, and conducting business. On the owner’s side, RVezy gets a 20% discount. For example, if the owner rents his van for $1,000 a week, he gets $800. Renters pay 10%, which means $100 is added to the $1,000 reservation fee.
Message: We found that most peer-to-peer rental services have a similar pricing structure.
Addition of a driver
After paying for your reservation, you will receive an email inviting you to add a driver. You can also do this from the toolbar by clicking on My Profile and then Add Driver. Any RVezy rental, including RV deliveries, requires a certified driver. The main driver is responsible for the motorhome for the entire duration of the rental. To be approved, a driver must have held an unrestricted license for at least 8 years, have a clean insurance profile and pass an identity verification program.
Collection by carrier
This is one of the most important parts of the leasing process. Owners must complete an out and back checklist with each rental, just like renting a car. With the RVezy application, you can easily open and fill in checklists. The owner will go over a checklist with you and show you how to operate everything in your RV. If you want to drive or tow the vehicle yourself, the owner will test it with you to make sure you are comfortable driving it. Remember that shipping is always an option if you don’t want to drive yourself.
The RVezy application makes tracking vans very easy.
It is imperative that you and the owner take photographs of the motorhome at the time of transfer so that there is an agreement as to the condition of the motorhome. Again, the checklist can be completed by the owner using the RVezy application. Adequate documentation and photographs protect both parties in case of damage or accidents. It is important that you confirm the details of the return of the motorhome with the owner.
During your rental, the owner of the recreational vehicle is usually your first contact. Since they know their unit better than anyone, they should be able to answer any questions about the RV and help resolve any situations.
If you have any problems or questions, please contact RVezy Customer Service. They are available 7 days a week and respond very quickly. You can contact them by phone, email or live chat. In the event of a breakdown, you can also benefit from RVezy Roadside Assistance (if purchased prior to travel). Roadside assistance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the United States and Canada.
At the end of the trip you give the camper back to the owner (or he picks it up) and say goodbye. Just like at the beginning of the trip, the owner fills out a checklist for the return trip and takes a picture using the RVezy app. After checking the condition of the RV, both parties sign a checklist and hit the road.
Once the reservation is made, RVezy has a closing procedure for the owner and the landlord. This completion provides an opportunity for both parties to discuss any questions or concerns and to consider the potential costs. The landlord may charge a fee for the tenant’s inspection and acceptance. If the tenant disagrees with any of the charges, they can open a dispute with the RVezy Resolutions team. In the rare event of an accident or major damage, the owner can file an insurance claim. RWESI claims that its loss rate is well below 1%. Once both parties have completed the closing, the tenant’s deposit will be refunded and the landlord will receive the second installment.
The Rwesi team mentions that withholding money from both parties helps to close deals faster and most deals are closed within 24-48 hours.

If you want to make money from car rentals, it’s important to consider the seasonal nature of rentals. The northern states will be much more affected in the winter than the southern states. Matching prices to demand is the best way to maximize sales.
Rezy rentals are a great alternative to traditional RV rentals like Cruise America or RV rentals through your local dealership. As a renter, you have access to a much wider selection of authentic recreational vehicles at a slightly lower price and without having to bring your own gear.
While RWESI does not yet have as many lists and evaluations as some of its competitors, it is clear that it is on the right path to success. Their team is passionate, knowledgeable and puts their clients first. We are confident that RVezy will do the same in the United States as it did in Canada.
frequently asked questions
Can you rent a van in one state and drive it in another?
It is often possible to rent motorhomes on a one way basis, but at an additional cost. This is related to the logistical challenge of dropping off a vehicle at a different location, so the number of vehicles at each location changes every day. The surcharge, referred to as a one-way fee in your application, ranges from $200 to $750.
