Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package: Subtle Changes, Big Payoff

Last year, we reviewed the Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package, which is the most powerful, most expensive, and likely the most fuel-efficient Porsche 911 ever made. This year, the German automaker brought out a new version of the car. It is a lighter, more powerful version of the original model, with a few tweaks to the 5.5-liter flat-six engine. Porsche has been known for obsessively fine-tuning its models for decades, and its ability to do this, along with keeping them at the pinnacle of sportiness, is the reason it continues to sell millions of cars worldwide.

The 911 GT3 fetched Porsche aficionados in the late 2000’s, but Porsche has since removed the model from its lineup. But with the 911 GT3 Touring Package (a sub-series of the R model introduced in the same year), Porsche has managed to entice a few more enthusiasts, with subtle changes that significantly improve the model’s character.

The 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package is the evolution of the 911 GT3. Not only does it come with a new color and some new features, but it also has a few changes under the hood that will make it more than just a racing machine. The 911 GT3 Touring Package is available in four different colors, though the standard color is Guards Red, a color that’s already available on the 911.. Read more about 992 gt3 touring and let us know what you think. The new Porsche 911 GT3 with Touring package has arrived and the hype around it is real. Prices start at $161,100, the same as the regular Porsche 911 GT3. What makes the 911 GT3 Touring package different from the standard version? Wings. The rear wing is always polar.

How much does a Porsche 911 GT3 Touring cost?

Porsche 911 GT3 with Touring Package

Porsche says the 911 GT3 with the Touring package will be available in early 2022. What’s different about the Touring package? The GT3 Touring is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter boxer engine that produces 502 hp and 346 lb-ft. The biggest external difference is that the Touring has no wing like the other GT3s. Instead, it has an automatically adjustable rear spoiler. It is equipped with the performance-oriented 6-speed GT Sport manual transmission.

In the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Package, the classic rear wing is omitted in favor of an automatically adjustable version. Apart from the removal of the wing, the vehicle is unchanged. It weighs about the same as a standard GT3.

Interestingly, Porsche is issuing a warning for those who can order this configuration.

Due to global supply issues in the automotive industry, GT3 models equipped with the GT Sport 6-speed manual transmission will not be available for delivery until early 2022. Contact your local dealer for more information.

Porsche

So although the controls are already open, the manual transmission option will stop you if you decide to go down that road.

What is the Porsche 911 GT3 Touring?

The Touring package is the latest equipment variant in the 911 GT3 range. It doesn’t differ much from the standard version, but there’s a good reason for that. The 911 GT3 is already a pretty impressive car. The Touring package offers silver instead of dark upholstery. It also gets a cool badge on the rear grille and silver sports exhaust tips.

The 911 GT3 accelerates from 0 to 6 mph in 3.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 197 mph. The Touring accelerates from 0 to 6 mph in 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 199 mph.

If that’s not enough to set this Porsche apart, there are plenty of ways to personalize it. There are several options for the seats in the Touring package. Sport Seats Plus (with 4-way upholstery), Adaptive Sport Seats Plus (with 18-way upholstery) for $2,640 or Full Bucket Seats for $5,900. The exclusive Manufaktur leather interior upgrade costs $15,350. Otherwise, it comes with the Touring package in the color black.

You can add elements like a carbon fiber roof, fenders under the doors, and other small design elements. Buyers can choose between a 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) and a 6-speed GT Sport manual transmission if you don’t live in California.

Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) with yellow calipers cost $9,210, while glossy black calipers cost $10,110.

How does it compare to the rest of the Porsche range?

Porsche 911 GT3 with Touring Package

The 718 Cayman starts at $60,500. This car develops 300 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. It has a top speed of 170 mph and is equipped with an automatic transmission. The 718 Cayman’s range includes several options.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 has 414 hp, 309 lb-ft of torque, and a top speed of 189 mph in manual version. With the naturally aspirated Boxer 6 engine, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.

The 911 Turbo S delivers 640 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque from a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine. The 0-60 mph speed is 2.6 seconds, making it one of the brand’s fastest models. The Turbo S has a top speed of 205 mph and a starting price of just $207,800.

All in all, it will be difficult to resist the tourist package. If the 911 GT3 is the ultimate sports car, the Touring package takes it a step further. If you are considering ordering the GT3 Touring package, you can do so. As 2021 has shown, nothing is certain in the auto industry, even if you have a contract.

You Need to Sell Your Toyota Tundra Immediately

To all the Toyota Tundra owners we know, we know you’re feeling the pain. You’ve got a truck that’s starting to show it’s age, the roof leaks so much you have to get your clothes to dry out, and the sound system is pretty terrible. Why not sell that truck before you hit the big 4-0?

If you’re in the market for a new full-sized pickup truck, you may be wondering, “How much is a used Toyota Tundra worth?” There’s a lot of misinformation about used trucks on the market today, and unfortunately it’s more prevalent than ever. Here are the facts: Used Tundra prices range from as little as $1,000 to as much as $90,000, depending on the condition and mileage.

In my opinion, the Toyota Tundra is one of the best full-size pickups on the market today. Not only is it priced well, but it also offers great fuel economy, can tow up to 8,000 pounds and is roomy and luxurious on the inside. But, if you’re not driving that day, you may want to consider renting it out.. Read more about selling on tundra reviews and let us know what you think.Toyota cars and trucks are known for one thing in particular: Reliability. When the sands of time stop moving, your neighbor’s old Toyota will have no problem traveling through eternal space. The Tundra is no exception. I speak from personal experience. A relative has a car like that, and I don’t know if I’ve ever seen him change oil more than once. This, combined with the already incredible resale value of Toyota models, is why you should sell your car immediately. Then laugh out loud.

New Toyota Tundra – Premium Pickup

2021 Tundra Toyota

The tundra often seems to be forgotten. When most people look to a Japanese brand for a pickup truck, their choice is almost always the Tacoma or Taco model. Good point. They are slightly smaller and consume more than the tundra. But who doesn’t love it anymore? Towing capacity is greater, and Tundra models have larger sleeper cabs and more powerful engines.

That said, it doesn’t matter if you’re in Europe and the Hilux is an option. You can literally drop a building on one of them. Reliability is excellent, but that’s not all that makes the Tundra a great car. They are excellent off-road vehicles that can conquer mountains without too much modification. It’s also not interchangeable for camping in the car, as it takes up more space than the smaller Tacoma.

Demand is increasing

2021 Tundra Toyota

For these and many other reasons, Tundra’s resale value is very high. According to iSeeCars, the recent spike in the used car market due to the semiconductor shortage has contributed to even greater price increases. The Tundra is listed on the website as one of the most expensive mods of the past year.

How much? It turns out it’s pretty high. Depending on the model year, the price has changed by an average of $8,000 or about 25% over the past year. It is also more than 4% above the average growth rate of 17%. In general : The newer the Tundra, the better if you want to sell it. But if you want to sell your house, there are some things you need to take care of first.

Preparing to sell your Tundra

2021 Tundra Toyota

First of all: If you want to sell your home, now is the time. But make sure your ad stands out because everyone, including moms, are trying to take advantage of the seller’s market now. One of the best ways to do this is to take nice pictures of the car, tundra or not. I’m not talking about whipping out my iPhone in the driveway at lunch. Wait until sunset, go to a nice place with him and pretend to be Wang Guo for an hour.

You may even consider auctioning the car. It’s not uncommon for auctions to help you sell your car faster and even get a little more money. Either way, it’s a good time to sell, especially if you own a Toyota Tundra. Tundra may survive the death of the universe, but the vendor market certainly won’t, so use it now.

APPROPRIATE: Buying Guide: Toyota 4runner (2014-2017)If you are reading this, you probably have a used Toyota Tundra in your driveway that you are not using. Why not? Your truck might be a good vehicle, but the future of oil is a troubled one. Your Tundra is a perfect vehicle for some of your friends and family, but in a couple of years, the Toyota Tundra will be outdated in the fossil fuel market.. Deer foaming at the mouth, dropping dead in San Juan Islands

According to a recent study, the number of deer dying at the mouth of San Juan Islands National Wildlife Refuge has increased dramatically in the last 30 years. The study shows that between 1973 and 2014, the number of deer dying at the mouth of San Juan Island and San Juan Island National Historical Park has increased from 9 to 159 in just 30 years. The reason behind the increase in death of deer at the mouth of San Juan Islands is still unknown.

It was the end of a long day of hunting for a group of friends in the San Juan Islands in Washington State. The sun was setting over the forest and the group was preparing to cook the evening meal when they came across a group of deer that had taken an unexpected turn for the worse.

It’s a beautiful, sunny day in San Juan Islands. You’re lying on the beach, soaking in the sun and looking out at the water. You’re just about to finish reading a good book when you hear a strange noise. It sounds like a deer, but you’re not sure if it’s a deer. Or maybe it’s a bear. Or maybe it’s a cougar. But you’re sure that it’s dangerous, and you need to get up and run. As you get up, you notice a small puddle. And in the center of the puddle is a tiny creature. It looks like a baby deer, but it’s not. It’s a calf, and it’s dead. You can still see blood and. Read more about san juan islands washington and let us know what you think.

SEATTLE – Washington state wildlife officials have confirmed that wild deer in the San Juan Islands have an animal disease after several residents reported dozens of strange deer deaths in recent weeks.

Dr. Christine Mansfield, a veterinarian with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, said the disease has been identified as an adenoviral hemorrhagic disease, the Seattle Times reported Friday.

Since early May, residents of these scenic islands, 70 miles northwest of Seattle, have reported more than 50 dead deer to state and local wildlife officials. Islander Aimee Beveridge told The Seattle Times Friday that she had seen three deer on her 10-acre property in a few weeks.

The disease, first discovered in California in 1993, poses no threat to humans. But officials said the way the virus spreads is similar to that of the coronavirus in humans.

According to Mansfield, the virus causes a large blood flow through the blood vessels and fills the animals’ lungs with fluid. She said the disease is highly contagious and is spread by direct contact between deer and through the air.

Infected reindeer may have bloody diarrhea or a frothy mouth. There is no treatment or cure. She said the disease has only been observed once in Washington, in 2017, when a dozen animals became ill near Goldendale in Klickitat County.

We were getting calls about numerous cases of deer dying for no apparent reason and that foam was coming out of their mouths, said San Juan County Sheriff Ron Krebs.

District officials initially suspected the use of fertilizers and pesticides, he said, but after state officials sent tissue samples for testing to a Washington State University laboratory, the disease was discovered.

The Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory confirmed two cases in San Juan County using molecular PCR testing, a technology used to confirm coronavirus cases, and genomic sequencing.

It is not yet known if the virus has spread to other parts of the state.

So far, we haven’t received any suspicious reports from the mainland, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we did, Mansfield said.

Striper Migration Map – June 18, 2021

It is now June 18, 2021 and the peak of the St. Lawrence River sturgeon migration has come and passed. After several years of a near complete absence of sturgeons in the river, the 2018 sturgeon season has been the best on record!

The St. Lawrence River and its tributaries have been a site for Canada’s population in the past. As a result, this area has been an important contributor to the economy and culture of the province of Ontario.

This week, striped bass moved around a lot in the water and groups of fish moved into new areas. The fishing is really picking up in some of the summer hotspots like Block Island and Boston Harbor, but there are still plenty of big bass in the south, and large schools of big striped bass make a long stop on the south shore of Long Island, where bunkers are plentiful. Remember, stream anglers are now required to use round hooks when using natural baits. In addition, we need to do our best this season to make sure the stocked striped bass go home healthy.

New Jersey Strippers Report

It’s not over yet. Another 50-inch fish surfaced this week from Ocean County waters. Although this fish was an exception, surfers in South Jersey still see a fair number of 26-32 inch streamers running around the beach, with feeding being the best tactic. In Monmouth County, beach stripers seem to be targeting schools and slot-size fish, but the larger bass seem to be getting scarcer. This may be due to the low tides, since we are between two moons. Next week’s full moon will be the strongest tide of the month, and it could bring a final rush of big bass to the Garden State. – Read the fishing report from southern New Jersey – Read the fishing report from northern New Jersey

New York Stripper Report

The big pike are held in huge bunker concentrations off the south coast of Long Island. On the east side of the island, anglers are having a harder time finding fish that are a size larger than bass from 25-50 pounds. There are some good-sized bass along the north shore in the Sound, with anglers catching bass of 20 pounds or more on live bunkers. – Read the Long Island fishing report

Report on skipjack tuna from Connecticut and Rhode Island

Narragansett Bay continues to hold good numbers of schools of bass to 50 pounds. Block Island is home to trout bars, but many anglers ignore them to reach the popular bluefish south of the island. East Sound continues to be home to some great streamers, including a number of bass over 50 pounds. – Connecticut Read Fish Report – Rhode Island Read Fish Report

Cape Cod/Massachusetts Report on skipjack tuna

Many trout have migrated up the Cape Cod Canal to the northern points, but trout have also migrated to Martha’s Vineyard. Banks of bars are forming again around Boston in what appears to be a repeat of last year’s chaos in late June and early July. – Read the Cape Cod fisheries report – Read the Massachusetts fisheries report

New Hampshire/Maine Stripper Report

Sea bass up to 40 pounds have reached Maine and New Hampshire, joining an ever-increasing number of schools of fish caught in rivers and along the coast. – Read the fishing report for New Hampshire and Maine

Helix 1 and 2 Person Tents to Keep you Covered on Your Backpacking Trip

Here at ETA, we have a range of experiences in all of our tents, and we are often asked what are the best tents for specific purposes. This post is intended to help you choose the right tent for your next backpacking trip.

No matter where you go, you’re bound to run into a situation where you need to stay dry. Whether you’re hiking in a heavy rainstorm or camping in a heavy downpour, you’ll need to keep dry. You’ll need a waterproof shelter that keeps you and your gear dry and protected. Helix 1 and 2 Person Tents are the answer to your waterproof shelter needs.

Luke Cuenco 05.27.21 Backpacking is a great way to get away from it all for a weekend. As much as we would like to sleep outside under the stars, a good shelter to protect us from insects and bad weather is often a necessity. ALPS Mountaineering has just launched two new lightweight trekking tents, the Helix 1 and 2 men. word-image-8284 Are you looking for tents? Read more

For your next backpacking trip, the Helix 1 and 2-person tents are suitable.

On some of my recent backpacking trips, I have been lucky enough to find accommodation without having to use a tent. But here in the Appalachians, the trails often have no shelter for miles around, and you never know when you’ll get tired or find the perfect spot to camp for the night. Transporting a tent should not be cumbersome. That’s why ALPS Mountaineering has developed the Helix series of 1 and 2 person tents. The minimum weight of the Helix tent is only 2 pounds 14 ounces and 3 pounds 12 ounces for the 1-seat and 2-seat models, respectively. Both tents offer enough space for one or two people to sleep comfortably and, thanks to the aluminum poles, are light enough to fit in any backpack without extra weight. Get Outside with the Best 4-Person Tents

As we all know, the weather can be unpredictable, so you need to be prepared. If you’re a couple looking for a highly portable two-person tent, then you should consider our number one pick, the Coleman-4-Person Tri-Loft Double Tent. It’s compact, but still tall enough for you have a bit of room to spare. This tent is perfect for two adults, or if you want to pack up the kids and some gear in the back to see the sights.

When it comes to 4 person tents, there are a few key criteria that are pretty important. First, how much space do you need? Second, what are the weather conditions like? Third, what are the features of the tent? And finally, what materials are used? It’s important to understand the difference between 4-person tents and 2-person tents. With a 2-person tent, you usually have one main room; with a 4-person tent, you have two rooms.

Luke Cuenco 05.24.21 Camping is a great experience, whether you are alone or with a group of people. Sometimes it’s very convenient to take the whole family and get everyone together for an easy and safe experience – especially if you have young children. Tents have come a long way in the past few decades in terms of materials and design, and there are now many great options for getting you, your friends or your family together under an awning. There are many different sizes of tents, from single seat models to massive models for the whole family. One of the most popular sizes is perfect for you and a few friends. Let’s take a look at the best 4-person tents for your outdoor adventures. + – Table of contents

1. Saitaris de Hilleberg – Editor’s Choice

word-image-8312 If you don’t know what to expect in terms of weather conditions, a tent that is prepared for anything can be the answer. The Hilleberg Saitaris four-seater is made of extremely strong Kerlon 1800 tent material, making it tear-resistant. The Saitaris has a standard vestibule and an extended vestibule for storing boots and other gear you want to store outside the sleeping area instead of inside. If you don’t need a vestibule, just set up the inside of the tent with the included pole holders. The Hilleberg Saitaris four-person tent, which sells online for $2,100, can be used in any season and in almost any environment. It offers 53.8 square feet of interior space. Benefits / Designed for use in all seasons and all weather conditions. Disadvantages: Expensive and the need for an additional structure to use only the main body of the tent. Conclusion: If you don’t know what to expect and can afford it, this is a great tent to have bought once and cried once.

2. Home Planet Nias 4-6 person tent – Unique Design

word-image-8313 I have already mentioned that the materials and design of the tents have changed a lot. As a kid, the Nais inflatable air tent was what I imagined for the campers of the future. Instead of traditional Nias poles (and all Heimplanet tents), folding and inflatable poles are used to support the rest of the tent. This makes the tent much easier to store and set up. The Nias tent has two central entrances and comfortably accommodates 4 to 6 people. For more privacy, the tent has two removable partition walls that allow you to arrange the interior of the tent as you wish. Home Planet Nias is priced at $1,179.95 and has 107 square feet of interior space. Advantages / No tents required, large interior space. Cons/ Cracks or breaks in the poles require more caution and are not as strong as the tent poles. Bottom Line/ Large tent easy to set up and take down, easy to set up for maximum comfort.

3. Big Agnes Big House 4 Deluxe Tent – Most rooms

word-image-8314 If you just need space, there’s nothing better than a really big tent. The Big Agnes Big House 4 has almost vertical walls that provide extra space to move around in the tent. The Big House 4 also has storage pockets inside, a built-in mat that can be used for boots and shoes, and reflective cables and braids so you don’t trip over your belongings at night. The Big House 4 is color-coded with braid and loop markers so you can’t get it wrong when setting up your tent, and it comes with a briefcase that contains everything you need to set up your tent. The Big Agnes Big House 4 Deluxe tent costs $369.95 and offers 60 square feet of indoor space. Pros / Lots of internal storage, reasonable price Cons / No vestibule included and requires the purchase of a footrest sold separately for durability. Conclusion An excellent economic option for not too difficult hikes.

4. Nemo Wagontop – Highest Total Height

word-image-8315 Stand up and stretch out in Nemo. The Nemo Wagon Top has a unique feature: It’s designed so that you can stand upright in the tent (unless you’re a Shaq, of course). The Wagontop is all about luxury, with large high-ceilinged windows and a large vestibule for storing shoes outside the bedroom and living room. But the Wagontop is not just about comfort: The canopy and tub are made of 75D-PEU polyester fabric, the bottom is made of durable 300D-PU material.  The Wagontop is advertised as being easy to assemble by one person, thanks to its unique frame design.  The Nemo Wagontop costs $499.95 and is nearly 70 square feet with a height of 80 inches, making it less cumbersome to install indoors. Advantages / High ceiling height and easy installation Opposite/illuminated windows usually mean less air circulation during warm nights. Bottom Line / Ideal for families and friends who want maximum comfort in the tent.

5. Cabela’s Alaska Guide Model Geodetic Tent – the tried and true

word-image-8316 Most hunters are familiar with Cabela’s Alaska guide tent. Tried and tested in Alaskan conditions for more than 25 years and refined over the years to better meet these unique needs, the Alaska Guide overhead tent is Cabela’s offering for the rugged team of explorers looking to venture into the Alaskan wilderness. The Alaska Guide geodesic tent offers protection from rain and snow thanks to its waterproof 2000 mm PU coating and 75D polyester ripstop tent fabric. The frame also provides extra protection from snow and high winds with 7 fiberglass poles with shock cord. If the ground beneath you gets wet, you can count on the 210D Oxford polyester floor with a 3,000 mm coating to keep you dry with its bathtub shape. The Cabela’s Alaska Guide model overview tent costs $349.99 and offers just over 72 square feet of interior space. Advantages / High resistance to weather and water Cons / The many pegs and wires make installation difficult for short stays. In short, it is an ideal place to rest for long trips to colder parts of the world where snow can fall. word-image-8317

Marquee size designation

Suppose there are four of you, all adults, and you want to go camping. Will the 4-person camping tent fit for your entire group? Yes. The Quad tent is designed to accommodate four medium-sized adults lying in sleeping bags on their backs. You won’t be able to put your stuff next to them in the tent, and it probably won’t be comfortable if one of them is sleeping wildly. The standard measurement unit for determining the size of tents is an average-sized adult lying on his or her back. This should give you a better idea of how companies size their tents. If you plan to bring equipment or other items that you will need in the tent, reduce the number of people. Usually I think a 4 person camping tent is enough for two or three people and their gear, unless it’s a Big Agnes tent. You will notice that I have specified the range for each of these options, and there is a very specific reason for this. Four-person tents generally have a floor area of 60 to 70 square feet, which is the generally accepted space for four people to sleep shoulder to shoulder without equipment. Personally, I prefer about 30 or 40 square feet per person, so everyone can carry their gear into the tent and still have some room to roll around at night.

Choosing the right tent

When choosing a tent, you need to know what you expect from it. It is always a good idea to use a tent that is at least somewhat waterproof and made of sturdy material. A true 4-season tent is more resistant to weather and wind than a 3-season tent. If you plan to go camping in the winter or to a place with harsh weather conditions, plan accordingly. Cabin-style tents are ideal for groups of people who don’t want to disturb each other as they move around, and tents with multiple doors also keep everyone happy at night when someone inevitably goes to the bathroom.

Is a 4 person tent suitable for 4 people?

In short, yes, it can technically accommodate 4 people. You just don’t have much room for gear, coolers and other camping supplies.

What makes a 4 season tent?

Four-season tents have stronger poles and shapes, making them more resistant to high winds and snow loads. These kinds of tents are more for staying warm. So if you don’t plan on camping in the winter, a three-season tent makes more sense.

Mercedes Metris Motorhome Claire and Rob

Claire and Rob live in New York City, but love to climb, hike and travel. They decided to convert the Metris into a motorhome so they could go to the country whenever they wanted. It took them an entire year to complete the construction, but now they can take a piece of the house with them on their adventures. The van came in handy now that they have a child to support. Claire and Rob installed windows to make the truck version of the Metris look different. Then they put carpet on the floor and walls for comfort. Inside there is a sofa which can be converted to a double bed. There is also a fixed kitchen with sink, fridge and worktops. Huge storage compartments at the rear of the van are available for kitchen and bed storage. The kids bring a camping table to cook and eat outside. If it’s wet or cold, they can set up a dining area inside with the swivel passenger seat. They also installed a fan to ventilate the roof and keep moisture out. This design is simple but functional. It creates the perfect comfortable feeling after a long day of climbing or hiking.

Do-it-yourself Metris Camper Van conversion

After owning and traveling in several RVs over the years, Dan converted a 2016 Mercedes Metris Cargovan into an RV. He did it for only $500. From the outside, the Metris looks like any other van, making it ideal for discreet camping. Inside, Dan left a plastic cover around the body, leaving out the wall panels. Dan had laid a dark carpet on the floor and the roof was covered with self-adhesive insulation. This keeps the van warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The 1.80 m long bed is made of plywood that can be folded to form a couch. During the day, he folds it and sits on the couch with his wife to eat and relax. There is plenty of storage space under the bed, accessible from the rear of the bus. Behind the front seats is a sink with a pedestal that holds water. The passenger seat is also equipped with a TV, so they can watch movies while lying on the couch or in bed. After this basic installation, Dan decided to invest another $1,000 in solar panels and a leisure battery. They allow you to stay offline longer. If you’re on a tight budget, you can put it off until you can afford it or until you feel like it.

Metris selfie of Marty and Colette

Marty and Colette converted their Metris into a do-it-yourself camper. Their design is simple but modern, with lots of plywood inside. The passenger seat can be rotated so that a guest can also be on board. Behind the front seats is a long bench that can be turned into a bed. It is a slatted base with a foam mattress with do-it-yourself padding. There is also plenty of storage space underneath. At the rear of the car there is a kitchenette on the right with a sink, cabinets and shelves. On the left is the refrigerator. Marty installed cabinets and folding tables on the back doors so he could cook outside and use the extra storage space. He also installed a shower for them to use outside. There is a fan and three solar panels on the roof. They go unnoticed. With no windows and a Mercedes sticker on the outside, this van is incredibly invisible. Marty says he’s slept in cities in 14 different states and no one has ever knocked on his van door. This structure is very functional and offers many amenities. Marty, Colette and their dog lived in Metris for a while. Since then, they have converted the Promaster van into a mobile home and live there full time.

Today, they spend their days exploring the many beaches of the west coast with their adorable golden retriever in a well-equipped van that can take them anywhere they want to go.

Metris From Life

photo @metrisvanlife The duo wanted a van that would allow them to explore not only the public spaces and parks they love, but also urban areas and city centers. This desire led her to purchase a Mercedes Metris with a small, streamlined profile and enough interior space to let her imagination run wild. After calling on TouRig to design the interior and install the soft top, they hit the road in this spacious and comfortable van.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Mercedes Metris motor home

Every van has its pitfalls, including the Mercedes Metris Camper. But what is waste to one person is treasure to another, so all these points should be taken with a grain of salt. What may be negative for some may be positive for you. Therefore, your specific needs and desires should be taken into account before choosing a van. This Mercedes Metris you can rent at Outdoorsy. Where are you going? Will you be spending more time offline or on call? Maybe a good solar system and large fuel tanks are more important than extra sleeping space. Or maybe the large interior space weighs more than a bathroom. When it comes to vans, there is no right answer, only your answer. So figure out what works for you and work with that.

The good things about the Mercedes Metris Motorhome

Here are the highlights we like about the Metris motorhome. Payload. The Mercedes Metris has a slightly larger cargo area than most of its competitors, giving you valuable extra interior space when converting. Easy to manage. Mercedes knows how to build a van. The engine of the converted Metris motorhome is extremely reliable and easy to use. You will find that it is even easier to drive than other cars because it really acts like a luxury car. Parking and storage. The Mercedes Metris motorhome is available in standard length or with extended wheelbase. Although the extended car is too long to fit in a standard garage, you will be surprised how compact it remains. This means that your Metris van will fit in most parking lots and even standard campgrounds, giving you lots of options for transporting and storing these vans. Performance. The Mercedes Metris has an impressive 258 lb-ft of torque at 1,400 rpm and a 7-speed automatic transmission. Stealth mode. Like most converted vans, the Metris caravan looks like a work van from the outside. This opens up a wide range of options in terms of where to store and stay, which is a big advantage for campers who are secretly camping in the city. Payload. Compared to other van chassis, the converted Metris van can carry an impressive payload of more than 2,500 kg. What we don’t like about the Metriscamper conversion

Price. If you compare the price of a Metris to a prefab B-class van, you’ll be pleasantly surprised, but compared to other popular van options, a Mercedes Metris camper conversion is a bit pricey. Premium fuel. In addition to the high price, the fact that you can’t fill up with regular gasoline can increase the overall cost of the vehicle even more than you might think. Visibility. The Mercedes Metris does not have the large viewing windows of other van models. This allows for more privacy while traveling, but it also means poor visibility while driving or just enjoying the scenery where you are parked. No bathtub. Most Metris motorhomes do not have space for a wet bath. This aspect is really up to you. Some van owners think installing a bathroom in a van is just a waste of valuable space, while others think it’s a top priority. Think about where you will be using your van and what amenities will be available to you. If you have access to a public toilet or a shower, that may be better than wringing your hands in a wet bath. But if you’re away from home a lot, a wet bath can extend your trip considerably. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best van to convert to a campervan?

There are thousands of camper vans and conversion vans available for the weekend camper, but there are only a few of them that have actually been converted from luxury cars: the Mercedes Metris. A Mercedes Metris is a compact Mercedes-Benz minivan based on the W203 Mercedes-Benz E-Class . The Mercedes Metris was introduced in March 2013, and was later renamed to the Mercedes Metris G1 in September 2013. The Mercedes Metris G1 has been sold in different markets, including Russia, Ukraine, and the United States. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or just want to see what life looks like in a van, these Mercedes Metris-based conversions are some of the best examples of what’s possible, and they’re all amazing.

Does Mercedes Metris have a bathroom?

Apart from their magical all-wheel drive systems, a diesel engine doesn’t make for the most glamorous car to drive down the highway. But, Mercedes Metris vans are the exception to this rule, and this one is no exception. When I first heard the Mercedes Metris was a van, I had no idea how to pronounce it. The Metris doesn’t have enough letters to be mistaken for a minivan, but it is a long and complicated name that doesn’t really fit into any of the usual van names like Sprinter, Surburban or Sprinter. So, does it stand for Mercedes, Microbus, Transporter or Minibus? I’m not sure, but I do know the Metris is an extremely cool van, and it’s no wonder why it’s featured in many cool van conversions.

How hard is it to convert a van to a camper?

For a long time, the thought of camping in a van has been an intimidating one. You just don’t see many people doing it, and if you did, they’d probably be trying to make it as clandestine as possible. But now, Mercedes-Benz has joined the game. It’s added a Metris conversion to its lineup, and it’s a bright, fun, and modern way to spend some time on the road. There are a lot of people out there who dream of living life on the road, or who simply want to travel more. We all have our reasons to do so, some are practical and some are just for the pure enjoyment. The best thing about traveling is that you can do it with your motorcycle or van. They are inexpensive, offer a lot of space and are ideal for traveling with the kids.

The Best American Cars, SUVs, and Trucks According to Consumer Reports

Consumer Reports has conducted an annual survey of the best vehicles to drive off the lot and keep for a long time. It’s not the most scientific way to rate vehicles, but it’s the most comprehensive study done by the magazine, which is why it’s so important to know how the magazine approaches its task.

Consumer Reports is one of the most well-known independent agencies in the United States, and their rankings are frequently referenced by newspapers and magazines, as well as by auto manufacturers. Their rankings are based on testing of vehicles in various categories, including safety, performance, design, and handling, as well as on owner surveys. To make their rankings, Consumer Reports omits any vehicles that have been recalled within the past 12 months, omits any vehicles that have been involved in an accident, omits any vehicles that have received a below-average score for safety, and omits any vehicles that have received a below-average score for reliability.

If you’re shopping for a new car, truck, or SUV, you may find yourself asking yourself which new vehicles from well-known U.S. brands were given the highest ratings by Consumer Reports? The good news is that Consumer Reports recently highlighted the best American cars, SUVs, and trucks based on their overall scores. Let’s find out what some of them are.

The best American cars include everything from EVs to luxury models

2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV | Chevrolet The 2021 Chevy Bolt has a lot going for it. It’s not only one of the best American cars but, Consumer Reports also gave it some pretty high ratings. This year’s model earned a 78 overall score, along with a five out of five predicted reliability rating and a four out of five predicted owner satisfaction rating. Consumer Reports also gave it a 76 overall score in its road tests, adding, “With the equivalent of 200-electrified horses on tap, this small hatchback accelerates with gusto and at 6.8 seconds from zero to 60 mph, it’s as quick as some sports sedans.” Now, the Chevy Bolt isn’t the only American car that made Consumer Reports’ list. The 2021 Ford Mustang also found itself among the organization’s picks for the best American cars. Unlike the Bolt, however, the Mustang is a new sports car. Consumer Reports gave this year’s model a 78 overall score. It also gave it an 84 overall score in road tests and a five out of five predicted owner satisfaction rating. Unfortunately, the Mustang was given a slightly lower reliability rating, landing only a three out of five. Here’s the thing, neither the Bolt nor the Mustang are considered luxury cars. That being said, Consumer Reports did tap both the 2021 Tesla Model 3 and the 2021 Tesla Model S as some of the best American luxury cars. While the Model S earned a 70 overall score, the organization gave the new Tesla Model 3 a 75 overall score.

The best American SUVs earned high marks from Consumer Reports

While several new cars made Consumer Reports’ list, the organization highlighted plenty new American SUVs too. Among them are models like the 2021 Ford Edge and the 2021 Ford Expedition. While Consumer Reports gave the Ford Edge an 83 overall score, the Expedition earned itself a 69 overall score. Though the Expedition’s score is significantly lower than that of the Ford Edge’s, both new Ford SUVs did well in road tests. Say you want an American SUV but aren’t sold on a Ford. The good news is that Consumer Reports included several other SUVs in its list. Take, for example, the 2021 Buick Encore and the 2021 Buick Enclave. Consumer Reports gave both models similar overall scores. While the organization gave the Encore a 74 overall score, it gave the Enclave a 76 overall score. Now, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid isn’t an SUV, but Consumer Reports did include it among its picks for the best American cars. For good reasons, too. The 2021 model earned a 68 overall score, which may not sound all that impressive. However, Consumer Reports did give it an 85 in road tests. It also gave the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid a four out of five predicted owner satisfaction rating.

Only two pickups made the cut for the best American pickup trucks

Perhaps you’d prefer a new American pickup instead. If that’s the case, both the 2021 Jeep Gladiator and the 2021 Ram 1500 were included in Consumer Reports’ list of the best American cars, trucks, and SUVs. But first, let’s talk about the 2021 Jeep Gladiator. Consumer Reports gave this year’s model a 65 overall score. It also gave the Gladiator a five out of five predicted reliability and owner satisfaction rating. However, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator did struggle in road tests and was only able to manage a 52 overall score. According to Consumer Reports, this year’s new Jeep Gladiator is “decidedly clumsy with mushy and slow steering that requires a lot of arm work to get the Jeep to turn.” The good news is that you can expect this year’s model to handle better than pickups like the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Tacoma. As for the 2021 Ram 1500? It earned a 63 overall score. This year’s model was also given a four out of five owner satisfaction rating. It did significantly better in road tests too. In fact, this year’s model earned an 83 overall score in Consumer Reports’ road tests.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which SUV does Consumer Reports recommend?

One of the most popular vehicles on the market today is the SUV. Whether you want the capability of an off-road vehicle, or just luxury and comfort, you have options for a car that can handle all of your needs. But how do you know which SUV to buy? Consumer Reports does not offer average vehicle recommendations, but they do provide recommendations on individual models. Consumer Reports has released its latest list of recommended SUVs, which includes the All-Wheel Drive Subaru Forester, the All-Wheel Drive Mazda CX-5, the All-Wheel Drive Porsche Macan, the All-Wheel Drive Kia Sorento, the All-Wheel Drive Hyundai Santa Fe, the All-Wheel Drive Subaru WRX, the All-Wheel Drive Toyota RAV4, the All-Wheel Drive Nissan Rogue, the All-Wheel Drive GMC Terrain, and the All-Wheel Drive Subaru Outback.

What is the best car according to Consumer Reports?

It wasn’t that long ago, that Consumer Reports (CR) was considered the go-to source of car buying advice by serious car shoppers. But what’s changed over the years? The magazine has grown into a huge operation with a staff that’s larger than the city of San Francisco. More than 12,000 readers vote on new products, and CR editors decide which are worth their time, which are worthy of a day-long test drive, and which need to be retired to the junkyard. Consumer Reports has tested 300 cars since 2000, rating them on almost every conceivable aspect of their driving experience, from acceleration and braking to acceleration and braking. Each year, they rate on-road performance, performance on snow and ice, side-impact protection and rear crash protection, and crashworthiness, among other things.

What trucks does Consumer Reports recommend?

When I want to get the best bang for my buck — meaning the most value for my money — on my next vehicle, the first place I look at is Consumer Reports. They are an independent, nonprofit organization, and they’ve been on the scene for nearly 80 years, so they have a good amount of experience. They don’t just weigh the cars on the lot, they test them, too, and come up with a number of other data points. There are many different types of trucks, and Consumer Reports has reviewed all of them. They have recommended these trucks for various reasons: they are economical, they are reliable, they are easy to drive, they get excellent fuel economy, they are comfortable to ride in, or they have reasonable safety ratings.

These bikes are an integral part of many people’s lives, and there are likely some good reasons why you might fall in love with one.

People fall in love with dirt bikes and end up riding them, even though they may not have the skills to control them, or may get injured while doing so. It takes a look at the many reasons people fall in love with dirt bikes from the rider’s perspective to see if it would make a difference.

As an Amazon Associate DirtBikePlanet.com earns from qualifying purchases. There are many extreme sports that people love and could talk about all day, but none are quite like dirt biking. Those that have found a love for this sport have so many reasons why, and you could discover the benefits too! People fall in love with dirt bikes because they offer a feeling of freedom, mental stimulation, physical benefits, and an opportunity to build a new social circle. They’re also relatively cheap and easy to ride, so most people can easily start riding. While knowing the reasons why people love dirt biking is a great start to discovering the sport for yourself, it is always better to go into greater depth. I’ll walk you all the reasons to fall in love with dirt biking, and maybe you’ll decide to give it a try!

1. It Gives a Feeling of Freedom

The most commonly mentioned reason that dirt bikers continue to ride is the sense of freedom it gives them that they can’t find anywhere else. Dirt bikers swear that off-road biking is better than a road-only motorcycle. This is because they crave the freedom they feel when they get to make their own rules and you can’t get any more free than being out in nature. The only thing stopping or slowing you down is your own skill level. If you know you can full throttle a section of a trail, then you are allowed to do that. There are no road rules or other traffic to pay attention to and you can decide your own limits off the road. When dirt bikers get stopped by their skill level, they feel a desire to improve and work towards a goal. This freedom is great for those who want to go fast, but it also benefits those who want to take it a little slower and really take in their surroundings. No one can tell you how to ride your bike on the trails, and that kind of freedom is rare. Maybe you could find that sense of freedom for yourself.

2. You’ll Get Lots of Mental Stimulation

Dirt biking provides mental stimulation believe it or not. Being on the bike and moving quickly requires a lot of awareness and sharpness from the rider. This is because there is so much going on when riding off-road that the rider has to anticipate any new terrain, adapt to any problems with the bike, and react quickly to every turn and bump in the trail. While many people ride in pairs or groups, riding alone can enhance the amount of focus needed to ride safely. When there are other people, you can better predict the trail by seeing where the other riders encounter turns and jumps, and you have help should your bike have a problem. When you are alone, you can only rely on yourself, so you have to be aware and alert. “You’ll feel refreshed and better able to tackle your stresses.” -John Hayes (Dirtbikeplanet.com) Getting on the trails is great for your stress as well because you are forced to not think about anything else besides what you’re doing. If you had a stressful day at work, feel discouraged by the downs of life, or are just dealing with a lot to do, dirt biking can take that stress off your shoulders entirely or at least for a little bit. By taking a break from the stresses of life and getting on the trail, you will feel refreshed and better able to tackle your stresses.

3. It Has Great Physical Benefits

As expected of an extreme sport, dirt biking has great physical benefits, some active, and some are good side effects of riding. Dirt biking strengthens your whole body whether you like it or not. Your lower body works hard to absorb shock and grip the bike while your upper body absorbs shock from the handlebars and keeps you and the bike balanced. Your upper body is also in charge of picking up the bike when jumping, and dirt bikes can be heavy! You will get a full-body workout every time you get out on the trails. Your cardiovascular system gets a good workout too. While riding, your heart rate can get up to 150bpm on a difficult trail with jumps or hills. The adrenaline from even just riding slower trails is healthy for your heart as well and will give your cardiovascular system a workout too. Getting your heart pumping is great for your overall health, and doing that with something that gets you outside is even better!

4. It’s a Social Sport

There is a whole dirt biking world, and the people in it are just as passionate about the sport as you could be! Dirt biking can be a very social sport. From the outside, it might seem very isolating to get into dirt biking. Riding alone out in the middle of nowhere, not a soul or another voice in sight does not seem very inviting to people who are social. However, this is not the case. Dirt biking can be your next big social circle if you let it. You can gather friends who also like dirt biking and ride a trail together. If you do not know anyone who likes to ride, there are plenty of dirt biking groups you can join on Meetup or Facebook Groups. These sources are helpful when it comes to finding people to ride within your area. People who love to dirt bike really love it, and they are almost always happy to talk about it with new people and share tips on riding and equipment. Going to dirt biking competitions or events can be a great way to meet people who have the same passion for hitting the trails as you do.

5. It’s Easier Than Riding Street Bikes

Most people don’t see how riding around trees in the dirt can have the same effect as riding smooth and fast on the road. The truth is, riding on the road is actually more restrictive and dangerous than dirt biking on the trails. We have already covered how freeing dirt biking can be, but some would still argue that street riding gives you that same feeling. Some people do feel that way, but when it really comes down to it, you have to follow speed laws on the roads, and there are other vehicles cutting you off and making it more dangerous. Dirt biking has no speed rules and there are no other bikers around you, so the only danger is the rider not being smart about their riding. Dirt biking will make you a better street rider. At first glance, dirt biking seems more difficult than street riding, but that is not necessarily true. Dirt biking is not that hard to pick up and it will help make you a better street rider in the process. By making the unpredictable terrain and obstacles your normal, the roads and poor drivers become much easier to navigate.

6. It’s a Sport for the Whole Family

Though it may not seem like it, dirt biking is a great option if you are looking for a family sport or just something you can include the people you love. Dirt biking is very doable for such a wide range of ages, that it can be something the whole family enjoys. Kids can pick it up pretty quickly and have tons of fun being on the bike. Teenagers can enjoy it just as much as the kids and get that feeling of exhilaration that they seek. If anyone does not want to ride for whatever reason, it is so much fun to watch anyway, that they will never be bored. Dirt biking can be a huge bonding experience for the whole family. It caters to everyone’s needs and preferences because of how versatile it is. If you let it, this motorsport can be a collective family obsession that brings everyone together. As for safety, it’s one of those sports where you can control how safe it is based on your actions. So if you take the proper steps it can absolutely be a safe sport. If you want some real hard data and statistics about how safe (or dangerous) dirt biking can be, see my article about dirt biking dangers as a family sport here.

Even More Great Reasons

In addition to the main reasons to love dirt biking, riders from all over have many different aspects of the sport that they love. Every rider has different experiences with dirt biking, but they almost always have a favorite thing about it. Here are some other reasons, from people who ride, to love getting on the trails.

  • There is something great about the feeling of sheer power in your control.
  • They feel a sense of accomplishment when they hit a jump or a turn just right.
  • Dirt biking gives you the option to tinker with the parts and improve your bike if you want to.
  • While riding, nothing matters on the bike, except the bike.
  • It is easy and cheap compared to other motorsports.
  • There is a sense of competition and sportsmanship.
  • There are so many ways to ride, that everyone can find something they like.

Is a Dirt Bike Worth it?

Buying a dirt bike is so worth it. Every cent you spend on a new bike and repairs enables you to have access to all the benefits and reasons people love dirt biking. Starting the new challenge of learning how to ride gives you a break in a possibly mundane schedule.

Price

Contrary to what people think, dirt biking is cheap to get into compared to other motorsports. In other words, it does not have to break the bank. As a beginner, used bikes are recommended and can be found for $1,500 or less. But there’s a much more complete list of the average cost of kid’s dirt bikes here and the average cost of adult dirt bikes here that can give you a better idea on cost. You also need protective gear and equipment for your bike, but those prices aren’t near as bad as most other motorsports. You can see my recommended dirt bike gear page for some ideas on the cost of things like helmets, chest protectors, gloves, boots, and other accessories you’ll need. Other motorsports can require you to put down $40k or more just to start. Dirt bikes do require maintenance, but until you get into biking every day, oil changes and little tune-ups are more than enough to keep you up and riding.

Maximum Versatility

Dirt biking is the most versatile motorsport allowing for a thrilling ride in the rain, snow, dust, or through the woods. Unlike street biking which has different bikes for different terrains, dirt biking has one bike for every terrain. You only have to have one bike to be able to ride in the summer and in the middle of winter. It only takes a couple of minutes and a change of tires to keep you riding year-round. Dirt bikes are also versatile for different riders. Beginners and advanced riders can ride the same bikes. A nicer bike might be used more by experienced riders, but only because they have committed to the sport. Beginners can ride the nicer bikes as long as they are willing to drop the money on them.

Start Something New

So many people have busy lives, but that does not mean they are necessarily exciting. While people are busy, they also tend to get into schedules that never change and become mundane. Dirt biking can be the thing to get out of that. There are plenty of other hobbies that you could take up, but none of them will give you the same benefits in for your busy life as dirt biking does. Not only does dirt biking give you something new and exciting to learn, but the other benefits from it can be applied to your life off the trails as well.

  • The mental benefits mentioned can help you be more focused and less stressed for the rest of your life.
  • The physical benefits can help you feel more refreshed and less sluggish.
  • The social benefits can help you feel understood and less alone.
  • The feeling of freedom can break you out of your too familiar schedule.

All of the reasons to dirt bike can be applied in your normal life and will at least make you feel better when you’re on the trails.

A Dirt Bike Is so Worth It

The feeling of freedom you can get for such a cheap price is unbeatable. In comparison to other kinds of biking, and other kinds of motorsports, dirt biking really takes the cake. You will not regret buying a dirt bike and getting into it. It will bring you so much freedom and can be a great benefit to your life physically, mentally, and socially. If all the reasons mentioned have you interested in purchasing a dirt bike, we can almost guarantee that you will fall in love with the open trails and sound of the motor too!

It’s hard to believe, but there are still kids out there riding dirt bikes at 13 years old.   Some even do it right after graduating from elementary school.   I’m not kidding!   It’s not just race-track riding, either.   Some riders do it for fun.   But why?  A 13 year old has a lot of room to grow and learn.   It seems like a lot, but the average life span of a human being is only about 80 to 90 years.   You have a lot of growing up left to do.  A dirt bike can be a great companion to help you through your teenage years. If you are planning on riding your dirt bike this summer, you have probably already considered your safety precautions and practices, but here are a couple tips for beginners that can help you stay safe.

Can a 13 year old ride a 125cc dirt bike?

One of my favorite things about living in the mountains is riding my dirt bike. Since I live in Canada, bumpy, unpaved roads are often the only route to the local trail system. As a result, I’ve spent countless hours trying to learn how to ride my dirt bike. I have been on every type of bike that my parents owned and have been on bikes that cost more than my house. I have also been on bikes that were older than me, but are still often in use. The bike I am riding now is my first 120cc dirt bike and is my first step into the world of high performance dirt bikes. A massive 125cc dirt bike that can be ridden by anyone with a license, from 13 years of age and up. After a few years we were able to update the engine to a 125cc motor in the new model that can go up to speeds of around 70 mph and go up mountains that would normally be too steep to ride.

Are dirt bikes safe for 11 year olds?

So, you’re in love with a dirt bike. You can’t get enough of the smell of the oily engine, the noise of the engine as it roars to life, the feeling as you drag the bike down the street, and then you have the craziest urge to get off the ground, kick it into high gear and launch it off a ramp. But wait! Where will you store this beast? Will your parents allow you to keep it in the garage? And where will you ride it? As the name suggests, dirt bikes are all about fun. They provide an enjoyable way to experience the natural world, meet new people, and test your skills. So, why would a 11 year old want to ride one? It’s a question many parents are asking these days.
