You Can’t Buy a Manual Porsche 911 GT3 in California

You can’t buy a manual Porsche 911 GT3 in California.

In California, you can’t buy a manual Porsche 911 GT3 (a.k.a. the Carrera S) unless you’re willing to forgo the ideal for a manual transmission and spend the extra bucks on a PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung) transmission. What makes it more confusing is that it’s still legal to buy an S2 model and modify it to have a manual transmission, because it doesn’t include a PDK.

Porsche’s 911 GT3 is one of the most track-focused and hardcore offerings from the German brand. Generally powered by a naturally-aspirated flat-six motor, the GT3 is known for being an absolute screamer of a vehicle, revving to 9,000 RPM. In the past, if customers still wanted the performance of the GT3 with a little more streetablility, the Touring option has been there for those so inclined. Now, California says you can’t have yours. More on that in a bit. Time to learn a little about why this is such a travesty first.

The 911 GT3 Touring is Porsche perfection

911 GT3 Touring | Porsche

If you wanted a GT3 that wouldn’t snap your spine down a bumpy road, your options were limited. That is, until 2017. Beginning that year, Porsche would remove the GT3’s dining table-sized rear wing in favor of a more understated extending unit that rose from the rear deck. The German marque would also soften the suspension just a touch to make the car more palatable off-track.

Journalists loved them, especially because the Touring-spec GT3 could be had with a traditional six-speed manual transmission. For some, this is the best way to enjoy the GT car experience. Windows down, wind in hair, spine intact. Porsche expects the new Touring to be just as popular this time around. That is, save for one place: California. What’s worse, the brand was only told of this after many customers had placed orders.

Too bad you can’t have one in California

911 GT3 Touring | Porsche

So, why won’t the Golden State let you have your fun? After all, weed is legal but a Porsche isn’t? Come on. It’s all due to a particular section of the California Code of Regulations, or CCR. The offending law speaks to a section put forth by the Society of Automotive Engineers, which helps regulate automobiles in the state. Turns out, the law is rather outdated.

Last revised in 1998, the “exterior noise criteria” states that the manual-equipped 911 GT3 is too loud. Awfully targeted given the state is plagued by straight-piped Dodge Challengers. It’s definitely a little odd, as a transmission doesn’t necessarily make a car louder. Presumably, a PDK-equipped GT3 Touring will be just as loud at full tilt. Apparently, Porsche is stuck waiting around hoping that the CCR will update the regulations to bring the Touring cars into compliance.

What does this mean for enthusiasts?

The Stuttgart marque’s legendary badge | Jakub Porzycki via Getty Images

This certainly doesn’t bode well for stick-shift purists living in California. If the state thinks the GT3 Touring is too loud, wait till they hear the new V12-powered Ferrari, whenever that releases. Regulations like this are common near race tracks, but it could bode ill for the future of performance cars in the EV era.

Manufacturers have to meet tens of thousands of global regulations when bringing an entirely new car into production. Perhaps it’s inevitable that this was going to happen. Everyone makes mistakes, and maybe this one just slipped by Porsche. Regardless, we’re still waiting on comment from the brand regarding the issue with the GT3 Touring.

Why Are so Many Taxi Cabs Yellow?

In the United States, yellow cabs are a common form of public transportation; yellow cabs are the easiest to spot since they are the only ones that are yellow. But, why are they yellow? The answer is simple: it is to make them easy to spot. When taxis are in service, there are only two models of taxis, the yellow taxis and the other regular-colored taxis. Because yellow taxis are easier to see, they are encouraged to move around more often than the regular-colored taxis.

We’ve all been in a taxi cab at some point in our lives, and it’s likely you’ve had the same experience. You get in the taxicab and are sitting snugly, enjoying the soft ride as you pull away from your destination. Suddenly, you see an unmistakable bright yellow taxi pull into view.

With the growing popularity of Uber and Lyft in recent years, the idea of taking a taxi has become almost obsolete. However, taxis are still widely used in major cities around the world because some people who need a ride quickly can get a taxi more easily than a carpool. Finally, most taxis are easy to spot because their yellow color is much more visible than a silver Toyota Corolla. But have you ever wondered why many taxis are yellow?

Visibility has something to do with the fact that taxis are yellow

You may have noticed that many taxis around the world are painted in different colors. Some are black, blue, white or even green. But why are most of them yellow? You might think it’s mostly because one company – Yellow Cab – makes them that way, but there’s an important reason why many taxis are the color of the sun.

According to Science Insider, which produced the video, the researchers tracked more than 16,000 different taxis over a three-month period. They found that yellow taxis were 5% less likely to be hit from behind during the day and 19% less likely at night. That’s not the only reason taxis are yellow. Let’s look back and see how the yellow taxi came about.

History of the yellow taxi

Taxis drive by during the opening of the Margaritaville Resort Times Square in New York. | Photographer: Amir Hamjah/Bloomberg

In 1908 Albert Rockwell, inventor and manufacturer, started a taxi company and painted all his cars yellow, and not because that color is more visible. According to Alexandria Yellow Cab, Rockwell painted his taxis yellow because it was his wife’s favorite color. It turns out that this fleet of yellow cars was more visible on the streets of New York. This also led Rockwell to name his company the Yellow Taxi Cab Company in 1915.

Around the same time, in 1915, a car salesman named John Hertz started his own taxi company in Chicago based on a surplus of cars sold. To highlight its fleet, Hertz relied on a scientific study by the University of Chicago.

The study showed that the yellow color with a red tint is more perceptible to the human eye at a distance. When Hertz found out, he painted all his taxis yellow and created Hertz’s Chicago Yellow Cab Company. Later, in 1953, he founded the better known Hertz Corporation and used the same yellow color for the logo.

Eventually, many New York taxi companies began painting their cars yellow, which led to an official decree in 1967 that all taxis in New York City had to be the same color yellow. To be precise, the Dupont M6284 or equivalent, reports The UI Junkie.

Green is actually more visible than yellow

While a study has shown that painting taxis yellow improves visibility, it is interesting to note that it is not the most visible color. As the Aiken Standard reports, new research has shown that green is the most visible color to the human eye, but only in daylight.

At night, the greenery can blend in with the green surroundings (such as trees) and other vehicles. So it’s not the best color for taxis. Instead, the color yellow still dominates. So the next time you use Uber or Lyft and the car you get into turns out to be yellow, you can tell the driver this new information about their old school competitor.

The 2021 Infiniti QX80 Has 3 Potential Drawbacks

The 2021 Infiniti QX80 has been the subject of intense and varied rumors for almost a year now, with the latest offering suggesting that it could be confirmed as a 2021 model at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show in January, before going on sale in the United States in the spring. Unfortunately, the latest rumors don’t seem at all clear, and the popular enthusiast website, The Car Connection, has already hinted that the 2021 QX80 will actually be a separate model from the one we already know about—the QX50.

One of the most exciting things about the 2021 model year in the Infiniti lineup is the QX80, a high-end luxury crossover model that has been in the works for a while now. It’s got an exciting new powertrain, an all-new crossover design, and an interior that takes luxury to a whole new level. Will it be a game changer?

The super luxurious 2021 Infiniti QX80 is making the rounds for critics to review. There are tons of features to praise, but there are a few aspects of the Infiniti QX80 that could be potential drawbacks to consider.

Is the 2021 Infiniti QX80 a good SUV?

2021 Infiniti QX80 | Infiniti

Yes, there are plenty of excellent things to say about the 2021 Infiniti QX80. It begins at about $69,150, providing a competitive price against other three-row luxury SUV options such as the Cadillac Escalade.

The Infiniti QX80 comes with a powerful 5.6-liter V8 engine with 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 8,500 lbs. It has a seven-speed automatic transmission with a smooth and effortless operation. But enough about the good, what are the potential drawbacks?

1. The Infiniti QX80 is clearly aging

2021 Infiniti QX80 interior | Infiniti

RELATED: How Reliable Is the Infiniti QX80?

The 2021 Infiniti QX80 feels a little old compared to rivals. It hasn’t been redesigned since 2011. According to, the QX80 has received a few minor updates over the years, but it still feels pretty old school.

Their team found that the interior seems dated. However, the interior is still filled with tons of luxurious features that include leather and wood veneer. The dual-screen multimedia system is the feature that provides an aging feel.

Despite having an update in 2020, the multimedia system looks and feels out of date. The screens are washed out in the sunlight, and the graphics can be challenging to read. On a positive note, there are physical knobs to use instead of touchscreen buttons.

2. The QX80 is limited on space

The team also noted that the 2021 Infiniti QX80 has a cramped third row. It seems a little awkward and hard to access for adults. Once you climb back there, head and legroom might be limited. But there is plenty of space in the first and second row for adults, so if you have kids, send them to the back past the folding seats in the second row.

You can access up to 16.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row and up to 95.1 cubic feet total. This is a solid amount of space for moving large items. But room for your luggage may seem limited when the third row is up.

3. The QX80 is thirsty

It’s typically not a surprise when an SUV doesn’t have the best fuel economy, but these numbers may shock you. The 2021 Infiniti QX80 only gets an EPA-estimated 13 mpg in the city and up to 19 mpg on the highway.

This is behind rivals like the Lincoln Navigator that gets an EPA-estimated 16 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. We know that’s not much better. However, the Navigator and Escalade are available with diesel engines, while the QX80 isn’t.

But these potential issues aren’t dealbreakers. Despite having a dated feel, the QX80 has advanced safety features such as forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera to assist with tight maneuvers.

The large leather seats in the first and second row are incredibly comfortable, and the powerful engine provides a quickie and sporty acceleration. It’s great for adding fun to daily commutes and vacations.

Elvis Presley’s 1976 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Is One of the Most Expensive Motorcycles in the World

The 1976 Electra-Glide was the final year for Harley-Davidson’s air-cooled V-twin engine, and the final year for the company’s air-cooled V-twin engine in general. For many motorcyclists, this was a landmark year as they watched the company’s iconic V-twin engine fall from grace, due to competition from Japanese bikes with air-cooled V-twins.

In 1976, Elvis Presley made headlines when he purchased a new Harley-Davidson Electra Glide from the jukebox musical, Big River. The purchase of the fabulous motorcycle was followed by the news that the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll had gone broke, and was forced to sell the bike to pay off some of his debt. At the time, the Electra Glide was the most expensive motorcycle in the world. It cost a whopping $17,500.

Of course, you don’t need to explain why anything to do with Elvis Presley can be highly desirable. But the Harley-Davidson the king rode is without a doubt one of the coolest things in the universe. This 1976 Harley-Davidson FLH 1200 Electra Glide motorcycle sold for nearly $1 million in 2019, making it one of the most expensive motorcycles in the world.

Harley Davidson FLH 1976 Elvis Presley | Pioneer Auto Museum

Elvis Presley had questionable taste but not in motorcycles

Elvis Presley was not known for his good taste. In fact, his vulgarity is as much a part of his legacy as anything else he did in his musical career. His taste in cars and motorcycles was a bit royal at times, but overall, the King’s garage had a few options that were to his liking.

Elvis Presley’s Harley-Davidson Electra Glide was the last motorcycle the King bought. In the more than thirty years since his Harley rolled off the assembly line, he has only ridden 126 miles. This fact alone makes this bike highly sought after, not to mention the fact that it was owned and tuned by Elvis Presley.

How much did Elvis Presley’s Harley-Davidson FLH fetch?

According to the New Atlas, Elvis Presley’s Harley-Davidson Electra Glide would be the most expensive motorcycle in the world, with an estimated value of between $1,750,000 and $2,000,000. However, it did not sell for half the high estimate.

When the 2019 Royal Harley went up for auction, the hammer fell with the highest bid of $960,000. For this motorcycle, the Vincent Black Shadow sold for $929,000. (Technically, the Easy Rider Captain America bike sold for more than $1 million in 2014, but the bike’s history calls that into question, and it may have sold for less afterwards.)

Other legendary motorcycles and plates

Pictures of the Terminator 2 Harley-Davidson auction: Profiles in History

The New Atlas mentions that the record for the most expensive motorcycle in the world was set because other famous motorcycles have recently sold for a lot of money.

In 2015, a 1959 Harley Davidson Panhead Duo-Glide once owned by Jerry Lewis sold at a Mecum auction for $385,000. Although Great Fireball is one of the most famous rock and roll artists of all time, he is no match for Elvis Presley.

Another iconic motorcycle that sold for a lot of money was the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy ridden by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie Terminator 2 : Judgment Day. Fat Boy sold for $512,000.

The list of famous motorcycles could go on endlessly, including Buddy Holley’s 1958 Ariel Cyclone ($450,000), Marlon Brando’s 1970 Harley-Davidson FLH Electra-Glide ($256,000) and the Triumph Trophy 500 Fonzie from the movie Happy Days ($179,000).

What is the most expensive motorcycle in the world?

This record will move you for a long time. Captain America’s engine is clouding things for now and will continue to do so until another Captain America is auctioned off at the end of the month. Until then, King can rest easy knowing that the world is still willing to pay more for his 1976 Harley-Davidson FLH 1200 Electra Glide than for any other celebrity motorcycle.

New Goose Gun MC312 Semi-Auto Shotgun from EAA

In a few short weeks, the US Fish and Wildlife Services will lift a federal ban on importing some iconic African game animals and birds. While the ban on imports of lion trophies from Zimbabwe ended earlier this year, the ban on importing lion and elephant trophies from other African countries is still in effect.

Goose Season is just around the corner and now is the time to get a hold of your new Goose Hunting Shotgun and get to work practicing for the season. Not only will this give you ample time to practice, but it’ll also give you a solid amount of time to vet your new hunting pice to ensure it won’t give up on you in the field when you need it to work most. A new option on the market to consider is the new EAA MC312 Goose Gun. The Goose Gun comes loaded down with out-of-the-box features that basically require no searching and hunting for components on your own (with the exception of ammunition and maybe a sling). This new shotgun is specifically geared towards being lightweight and ready to go out of the box with its included red dot optic and accessory rail as well as a full suite of chokes for your desired pattern.

New Goose Gun MC312 Semi-Auto Shotgun from EAA

The new Semi-Auto Shotgun is capable of using 2-3/4″ shells, 3″ shells, and even 3-1/2″ shotgun shells. The core of the MC312 Goose gun is a lightweight aircraft aluminum receiver with an integrated internal top accessory rail making it ready to accept red dot optics or other optics right out of the box. In fact, the new Girsan MC312 includes a red dot optic that is provided by EAA so no need to purchase an additional one unless you had a specific optic in mind.

The stock and barrel are durable and light on account of their high-impact polymer construction which should let you use and abuse the shotgun for a lifetime of goose slaying. Finally, the MC312 Goose Gun includes a whole set of chokes and is topped off with a fiber optic front sight in case you want to forgo the red dot sight. The Shotgun’s 12 gauge bore is also compatible with standard chokes that aren’t included with the shotgun out of the box.

Specs and Features:

    • Polymer Stock and Forend
    • High Visible Sight
    • Inertia Single Action Shotgun
    • Red Dot Optics Ready
    • CAL: 12 GA 3″
    • CAP: 5+1
    • LOP: 14.25″
    • BBL: 30″
    • OAL: 52″
    • WT: 6.95 lbs

While it may not be the lightest shotgun on the market meant for bird hunting, the price certainly seems reasonable at just $452 especially when you consider it comes already equipped with the tools needed to use the red dot option and 5 different choke tubes if you wish. If you want to be a sporting conservationist, states like Wisconsin quite often have overpopulation issues with Canadian Geese Specifically and regular cullings are needed to keep the Goose population in check for the sake of native species in certain areas – the EAA Goose Gun might be just the tool for the job.

Lease The 2022 Genesis G70 for Less Than You Think

It’s never too early to plan for the future, and that goes for buying your next vehicle. If you’ve been on the fence about the newest model in Genesis’s lineup—the G70—you might be wondering if you could take advantage of current vehicle lease promotions to lease the G70 for under what it’s likely to cost when you buy.

The world’s first all-electric luxury sports car is finally in production, and it is currently available to order. However, you may want to consider a different model. The base model for the 2022 Genesis G70 starts at $66,900—and you are paying for the fact that you will not be able to use it for anything else. If you want the type of car that is truly going to impress your friends and family, then you will want to lease the 2018 model Genesis G70.

The Genesis is a relatively new member of the luxury class. Chances are you’ve never heard of this Korean brand, and you can be forgiven for that. For a few years now, the manufacturer has been quietly taking on the established German competition, and with some success. The GV80 is a fantastic SUV option, and the G80 can challenge the Mercedes-Benz S-Class with relative ease. Now the brand is lowering prices again with an attractive lease offer for the G70 sedan.

Genesis G70 – a cost-effective luxury car

2022 G 70 | Genesis

Although in some ways the G70 looks more like the Kia Stinger GT than the G70, the new sedan is a fantastic value. Engines range from the turbocharged four-cylinder to the Stinger’s 3.3-liter V6, which is available with rear- and all-wheel drive, as on the Stinger. You’d think this kind of separation of details would be bad for a luxury car, but it’s not. Sharing parts keeps the G70 competitive in the marketplace and cuts costs for Hyundai, the brand’s parent company.

Of course the interior should be a bit more luxurious. This is definitely where your money goes in the G70. The touch points are fantastic, and the audio system is at least as good as the luxury equipment found in Lexus sedans today. Inside, the leather interior is definitely a step up from other cars in this price range. The exterior design is another highlight, the sedan looks more unique than most luxury models on the road. All in all, not a bad candidate if you’re looking for a new lease.

Leasing offers become cheaper

2022 G 70 | Genesis

Let’s get down to business. The 2021 models are already available, and the 2022 G70 is coming soon, according to CarsDirect. It’s even better if the rental is possible without a down payment. You can’t even do that in a new Volkswagen GTI, a much cheaper car. Prices start at $409, depending on specifications. With that number, you get a base 4-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive – a proven formula for fun.

The lease is not the only problem here. The Korean brand is offering you $1,000 to upgrade to the Genesis if you own another car. For that money, it’s hard to see why not. The G70 is a top-of-the-line model at an exceptional price. It also looks like a much more expensive car than it actually is.

Is it worth renting?

But if leasing isn’t your thing, Genesis is happy to offer you 0% financing for 72 months. Be careful, because getting a loan over such a long period of time from the people who made your car definitely creates a conflict of interest for your credit well-being. Nevertheless, given the turbulence in the used and new car markets, leasing is a good option, and it’s also one of the only ways around the current economic trends. The G70 is a great way to do this, as the car certainly exceeds its capabilities.

Ford F-150 Dashboards Are Replaced With Defective Dashboard, Lawsuit Alleges

Some owners of Ford F-150 trucks have noticed that the gauges in their trucks’ dashboards have changed recently. They are no longer readable in the dark, the numbers have become smeared, and even the color of some of the components has changed, according to the owner’s lawsuit.

A class action lawsuit was filed on Tuesday alleging that Ford Motor Company has been replacing defective Ford F-150 dashboards in the United States and Canada with dashboards that are defective, resulting in injury and damage to the F-150s. The F-150 dashboards are defective because of their design, and they have been replaced with dashboards that are more difficult to use, and can be damaged by the F-150s’ internal components. Ford has allegedly been replacing the F-150’s dashboards without the knowledge of the F-150 owners, or the notice of the defective dashboards. The dashboards are defective because they are designed to be easily broken, and cannot be fixed by the F-150 owners themselves. This has

While the Ford F-150 is a popular pickup truck on the market, it sure has seen quite a few problems over the years. It’s dealt with issues ranging from engines to transmissions to leaking oil. On occasion, Ford has had to answer those complaints in court. The most recent one deals with an interior issue. Car Complaints reports that three plaintiffs are demanding compensation for the problem they find frustrating.

Ford has seen its share of lawsuits over the last several years. One of the most recent was with the excessive oil consumption of its 5.0-liter engines on the 2018-2020 F-150s. Now, the automaker is being sued once again, this time for an interior issue.

Three people out of Delaware are suing Ford because the dash on the F-150 XL and XLT trucks warp, peel, and bubble around the defrost vents. The timing of the defect comes very quickly after the purchase or lease of the truck, sometimes within a week or two.

One of the plaintiffs leased his truck in May 2018. A few months later, when the truck hit about 3,000 miles, they noticed the dash had warped and was starting to creak and rattle. He also noticed the bubbling occurring around the defrost vents.

What did the automaker do in response to the dash problem

One plaintiff went to the Ford dealership several times trying to get the issue repaired under warranty. When they contacted customer service about the problem, they were told that there was no fix for the dash, so it couldn’t be covered under warranty. Sometime after the call, the plaintiff found that there was a service bulletin out for the same issue they were having.

They mentioned the service bulletin to the dealership repair department, and they said the replacement parts were on backorder and there would be approximately a three-week wait.

The lawsuit claims that Ford knew about the warping of the dash back in April of 2015, where it issued a special service message to its dealers, saying they shouldn’t attempt to repair the issue. Finally, in 2019, Ford sent out the service bulletin reporting that dealers should replace the warped ones with new dashes.

However, the lawsuit claims that Ford refuses to replace the problem dashes with higher-grade ones. They say that Ford uses the same cheap dashes that were originally installed, which would only cause the problem to come back shortly after the replacement was put in.

What happened to the previous lawsuit against Ford for the F-150 dash

This isn’t the first time Ford has been sued over the same exact issue. A lawsuit was filed in 2019 in Florida. Like this new case, there were three plaintiffs alleging that Ford knowingly installed cheap dashes in its F-150 trucks.

The higher trims of the F-150 didn’t have a problem, since they had higher-quality dashes installed. The XL and XLT models got the cheaper end of the stick.

In the previous case, a Florida judge ruled in favor of Ford, at least partially. The plaintiffs weren’t living in Florida, and they couldn’t be connected to the state in any way, so the lawsuit was silly. The Judge agreed but only removed one plaintiff. The other two cases were to stand.

They also said that Ford had known about the problem with those trucks for quite some time, having ample time to remedy the situation. Ford was charged with violating Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Services Act as well as the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, according to Ford Authority’s website.

Ford F-150s have been experiencing these warping issues since 2015. The automaker is facing a new lawsuit concerning the dash after having just completed another court case about the same problem. Will they finally step up and resolve the dash problem by replacing the cheaper dashes with higher-grade ones? We’ll see.

5 Practical Tips to Stop Car Break-Ins and Protect Your Valuables

Car break-ins are one of the most common crimes in America, and unfortunately, many people have little to no ways of protecting their valuables. As nice as it would be to have a big, badass security system installed in your car, it’s going to cost a fortune. Here’s a list of some of the most common car break-ins and some tips on how to protect your valuables.

Even though car break-ins are less common these days, we still get a lot of calls from people who’ve had their car broken into. The good news is that there are some very simple things that you can do to stop this crime.

While data gathered by the IIHS shows that car thefts have been trending downward in the last 26 years, the National Insurance Crime Bureau reports that the number of car thefts in 2020 totaled 873,080. That number marks a 9.2 percent increase compared with 2019, the IIHS says. The good news is that there are ways to stop car break-ins from happening.

1. Stop car break-ins by keeping your car keys secured

When it comes down to it, one of the easiest ways to stop car break-ins is to keep your car keys secured at all times, CNET reports. That means taking your car keys with you when running errands, even if you don’t plan on being in the store for more than a minute or two.

Don’t overlook your spare key, either. In fact, CNET reports that keeping your spare key secured is just as important as keeping your everyday car keys secured. Rather than storing your spare key in or outside of your car, protect your car from break-ins by keeping it safe and secure inside of your home.

2. Keeping your windows closed and doors locked can stop car break-ins

An open car window allows car thieves to break into your car. The same goes for an unlocked passenger or driver’s side door. That’s why, if you want to stop car break-ins, you need to keep your car’s windows closed and its doors locked at all times. The same goes even if your vehicle is parked in your very own driveway.

In fact, whenever you park your car, you should double-check to make sure your car’s doors are locked, and its windows are closed, Pop-A-Lock reports. “Thieves do not want to bust a window or pick a lock if they don’t have to, because the longer they spend at the car, the more likely it is that someone will see them,” Pop-A-Lock added.

3. Activating your car alarm can help prevent car break-ins

Chances are your car came equipped with a car alarm. If you’re hoping to stop car break-ins, activating your car’s car alarm is a great way to go about it, CNET reports. If someone tries to break into your car and the alarm is on, the alarm will cause the car to make a loud noise. For many thieves, the sound of a car alarm is the ideal deterrent.

If you’re not confident in your car alarm’s ability to stop car break-ins, consider investing in additional anti-theft measures. Pop-A-Lock recommends installing something like a steering wheel lock, an ignition cut-off, or even a window alarm. The company also recommends using a security system with two-way communication so that you will be notified via your smartphone anytime that the alarm goes off.

4. Removing your valuables can help stop car break-ins

Not all car thieves are career criminals, Nationwide reports. In fact, many car thieves are nothing more than opportunists. Fortunately, there are a few different ways of preventing these opportunists from stealing items from your car. Not only should you be keeping your car locked at all times, but you should also be removing or hiding your valuables every time that you exit the car.

Leaving your valuables in view is a great way to attract car thieves, Nationwide reports. To stop car break-ins, be sure to hide or remove your phone, wallet, and bags from your car every time that you leave it. Nationwide also suggests stowing away items like laptops and shopping bags.

5. Where you park can help stop car break-ins

There are several ways to stop car break-ins. Whether that means keeping your car keys secured or your car’s doors and windows locked is up to you. The good news is that those aren’t the only ways to stop car break-ins. As a matter of fact, Nationwide reports that where you choose to park can also help stop car break-ins.

If you’re out and about, instead of parking in the lone spot across the lot, park in a busy lot with lots of pedestrian and vehicle traffic, Nationwide suggests. If you plan on returning to your car after dark, consider parking in an exceptionally well-lit area. And last but not least? If you can, Nationwide suggests parking in a lot with a parking lot attendant.

The smart way to protect your car from break-ins

There are plenty of ways to deter car thieves and stop car break-ins. In fact, these are just a few of the measures that you can take to keep your car protected. Nationwide also recommends keeping an eye out. If you see something unusual or suspect suspicious activity, don’t be afraid to report it to local authorities.

Which 2021 Lucid Air Trim Is the Best Option?

The Lucid Air is a stunning SUV from Lucid Motors, and it will become the first car ever to use an in-house platform as a basis for all vehicles. The platform is based on a high-performance electric system, and it allows Lucid to use the same battery cells for all of its models, and to produce them cost effectively. When the actual platform is ready for production, it will be capable of taking on any Tesla model.

The brand new Lucid Air is a very impressive car, and there are many Trims available for it. The question is which one is the best-suited for you, and what trim level would be the best choice to buy. In this article, I will compare the two Trims available for the Lucid Air and explain why I think each is a great choice for you.

The 2021 Lucid Air is a luxury electric car designed to rival competitors like Tesla. The 2021 Lucid Air is available in four spectacular trims ranging from $69,900 to $161,500. It boasts an incredible range and massive power, but which trim should consumers look into?

There’s a new EV brand in town

Lucid Motors first announced their EV, the Air, back in 2016. The company experienced setback after setback trying to bring a quality, luxury vehicle to market. It seems consumers are finally able to own a Lucid Air after years of waiting.

Every iteration of the EV surpasses previous expectations because of the estimated EPA range. The Lucid Air has made history, and the company fully intends on capitalizing on the EV’s unique features by offering trims to suit every consumer. So it’s more than a battle for the better electric car. It’s a battle for the better electric brand. Lucid’s Air Pure leads the charge.

The Lucid Air Pure: pure bliss

The Lucid Air Pure is the first of four unique trims. The Air Pure has a projected range of 406 miles. This number may seem arbitrary, but that range is further than the Tesla Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y! It makes 480 hp and is described as a balance of comfort, performance, and long range.

The Lucid Air Pure starts at $69,900, comparable to the $69,420 2021 Tesla Model S. The Air Pure is very much the entry point into the company’s extensive line of luxury electric vehicles. But is it enough to compete for the throne of the most common daily EV?

Lucid Air Touring: real horses

The Lucid Air Touring is where the automaker really starts to show off their power. While the 480 hp Air Pure is impressive, it cannot touch the Air Touring. The Air Touring has the same estimated EPA range of 406 miles as the Air Pure. When it comes to power, however, it’s in a whole other league.

The Air Touring makes a whopping 620 hp. To put that number into perspective, the BMW 2021 BMW M5 Competition makes 617 horsepower. The Air Touring is also much cheaper than the BMW M5 Competition. It starts at $87,500. This is a $17,600 leap from the Air Pure, but it is also a 140 hp difference.

Lucid Air Grand Touring: a legend is born

The Lucid Air Grand Touring is big money, but it does big things that could be worth the spend depending on the driver. It makes 800 hp and can do 0-60mph in 3.0 seconds. Not only is it fast, but the range also improves from the Air Pure and Air Touring. The Air Grand Touring can go as far as 517 miles.

With top speeds of 168 mph, according to MotorTrend, there isn’t much more a driver could want from an EV. It’s fast, it goes unbelievably far, and it was designed with luxury and comfort in mind. But, unfortunately, it is also $131,500. The Air Grand Touring is second only to the most expensive of the Lucid Motors Models: the Lucid Air Dream Edition.

The Dream Edition: what dreams are made of

The Dream Edition is Lucid Motors’ kitchen sink model. It’s performance-ready and comfortable. It makes a ridiculous 1,080 hp. This model is the supercar that people save as their phone lock screens to envision their dream cars.

The range is slightly lower than the Grand Touring’s 517-mile range at 503 miles, but 1,080 hp? Really? The Lucid Air Dream Edition is aptly named because at a starting price of $161,500, most consumers will only be driving this EV in their dreams.

Which is the best trim?

The price ranges are extreme, and the differences in horsepower are just as large. The Air Dream Edition is easily the most powerful in terms of performance, with its 1,080 hp. Unfortunately, it is also the least attainable for the average consumer.

The Air Grand Touring is where the difference in range comes into play, moving from 406 miles all the way to 517 miles. If consumers are in a place where they can overlook the $130,000+ price tag, the Air Grand Touring is the best option because it has incredible range and horsepower. It may be expensive, but it delivers as a luxury EV with great performance specs.

The Air Pure is the most accessible to the average consumer and is still a great option. The only factor stopping it from being the best option Lucid Motors offers is its range and hp compared to the insane specs of Lucid’s higher trims. Still, as far as EVs, the Air pure is a great vehicle. It just isn’t the Grand Touring.
