North Carolina Drivers Block I-77 With Dangerous Stunts

Normally you’d expect crazy stories to start with the guy from Florida, but today we have a surprise from Charlotte, North Carolina. Near the NASCAR Hall of Fame headquarters, a group of drivers with Dodge Chargers have transformed I-77 into their own personal race track. The police were called for reports and donuts, but instead of the tasty morsels, they found a wild Dodge Charger.

According to WSOCTV, southern Interstate 77 was shut down Friday night by a group of drivers in Dodge Chargers. Just in time for the return of NASCAR, drivers were blocking the tracks for fun.

There is no correlation between the Charger fleet and NASCAR racing. It happened so close to the Nascar Hall of Fame. It’s hard to imagine a trend in the Charlotte, NC race being purely coincidental.

But the drivers were behaving incredibly dangerously. They stopped traffic to do donuts, burnouts and many other tricks. CCTV footage shows people frustrated by miles of traffic jams and others filming stunts.

The incident happened around 11pm at the Tivola Road exit. A witness said about 30 Dodge Chargers drove by and blocked the southbound lanes. Without police officers, she has created a scary situation and is no longer allowed to drive on I-77 at night.

APPROPRIATE: It’s no surprise that many Dodge Charger drivers receive speeding tickets.

State troopers responded to many emergency calls, but by the time they arrived, the group was gone. They offer to call *47 if anyone has information about the vehicles or their license plates. Also, try to remember the license plates of the vehicles involved in these dangerous activities.

But why use chargers?

Thirty different models of chargers seem to be an interesting choice for the race. We don’t know what year or level of finish the drivers were using. So let’s take a look at the 2020 Dodge Charger to see if it’s a good option to use safely. Please leave the tips to the professionals!

The 2020 Charger starts at around $29,995, so it’s not cheap, and there are six engine options:

  • The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.
  • The 3.6-liter V6 engine produces 300 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque.
  • The 5.7-liter V8 engine produces 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque.
  • The 6.4-liter V8 produces 485 hp and 474 lb-ft of torque.
  • The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 produces 717 hp and 605 lb-ft of torque.
  • The supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat Redeye produces 797 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque.

So you can definitely get a Dodge Charger with muscles. According to Road and Track, the SRT Hellcat accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.6 seconds. It offers athletic performance that the competition can’t match, even if it is an older, high-end model.

According to Edmunds, the Charger has comfortable seats with plenty of support. But you can feel the bumps in the road. In addition, wind noise is audible in the cab, although the loader is equipped with sound insulation.
