Here are 7 Tips to Make the Most of Apple Carplay

Apple’s CarPlay is Apple’s answer to Android Auto and Google’s Android Auto. CarPlay is a software update that allows a user to plug an iPhone into the front USB port of a car, and use it as a hands-free interface for phone calls, music, maps, and more—right on the dashboard. Apple recently released CarPlay version 6.0, and continues to improve the stability of the software. The latest update provides more information about the car you are driving, including a readout of the time, date, and even weather.

Apple Carplay is a lifesaver for anybody who wants to utilize their phone’s apps from the comfort of their driver’s seat. Drivers may use applications like Google Maps, Waze, Spotify, and Whatsapp on their car’s touchscreen using Apple Carplay. They may even have Siri read their text messages to them so they don’t have to take their eyes off the road.

There’s no disputing that Apple Carplay offers nearly all of the functions you’d want on your phone while driving, but did you realize there are more? Here are seven suggestions for getting the most out of Apple Carplay.

1. You have the ability to capture screenshots.

While this advice may seem to be useless, it may be useful to certain Apple Carplay customers. You can capture screenshots of your Apple Carplay screen, believe it or not. You can accomplish this by holding down the power and “volume down” buttons on your phone while it’s linked to Carplay. It will then save two distinct pictures to your phone’s camera roll, which you can then share with your friends.

2. Personalize your home screen

On your iPhone, you may choose whatever applications you wish to use, but what about Apple Carplay? It is, fortunately, feasible. You’ll need to access your iPhone to modify the Carplay home screen. Press the Settings app on your phone, then General, then Carplay. After that, choose your vehicle and then Customize. On this page, you may choose which Carplay applications you want to display on your home screen and which ones you don’t.

3. Change the look of Carplay

If you’d like to change the backdrop on Apple Carplay, you may do so as well. On the Carplay dashboard, go to the Settings app and then to Appearance. You may activate “dark mode” and select whether you want it on all the time or just at night on this menu. You may also choose from a few different skins by going to the “wallpaper” option to further personalize your Carplay experience.

4. Apple Carplay can keep track of where you parked your car.

Apple Carplay can remember where your vehicle is parked since it is so tightly linked to Apple Maps. To make this function available, go to your phone’s Settings app and choose “Maps.” Toggle “Showed Parked Location” to have Carplay remember where your vehicle is parked if your phone was linked to the system before you switched off the car.

5. Controls on the steering wheel

You undoubtedly use the controls on your steering wheel on a daily basis, but did you realize that they can also manage various Carplay features? When you utilize Carplay, you can change the volume, use Siri, and move forward and backward through playlists exactly as you would with the car’s internal music system.

6. Carplay has a “do not disturb” option.

You may use the “do not disturb” feature if you don’t want any phone calls to come through on your phone. However, you can accomplish the same thing with Apple Carplay. Choose “Do not disturb while driving” from the “Settings” app on the Carplay dashboard. When you connect your phone to the system and choose “Activate with Apple Carplay,” the “do not disturb” option will be enabled.

7. While your phone is linked, you may use it.

You may now use your phone independently when connected to Apple Carplay, unlike previously. This implies that if you’re driving with a passenger, they can play on your phone as you utilize Carplay applications. Although it’s a convenient feature, we don’t suggest using your phone while driving; instead, give it over to your passenger.
