Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s ‘Oddest’ Car That He Owns Is a Boat

If you’ve ever wondered what Dale Earnhardt Jr. drives, you might have to check the garage that houses his collection of cars, trucks and boats. If you’re willing to venture out of that garage, you can find Earnhardt’s latest vehicle in his garage: a boat.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has a whole lot of cars, and most of them are pretty cool. He owns a Maybach, a Lamborghini, a house in the Hamptons, a plane, and a boat. His most unusual car, however, is a jet ski named Iroc. Over the years, he’s gone on a few rides on it, but, curiously, that’s about all he’s done with it. “There’s not a lot of room in the garage,” he told Sport Illustrated. “We’ve got all these cars. I bought it because I love jetskiing. That’s really it. It’s just something fun for me.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a fan of boats. In fact, he has a boat of his own. He also owns a number of cars, including a Lincoln Navigator tricked out with hidden iPads and a computer that serves as an 8-foot-tall display monitor, but his favorite is the 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, which he owns in Daytona Beach, Florida. The car has a supercharged Oldsmobile V-8 engine with a supercharger that sends air to the rear of the car. The car also has a custom-built computer that keeps track of all the information (like speed, fuel efficiency, and so on) and lets him monitor performance.

NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. has driven cars for most of his life, from his No. 88 Chevrolet to the cars he grew up in in North Carolina. The two-time Daytona 500 champion loves cars, something he learned from his father, Dale Earnhardt Sr. But of all the cars he has collected over the years, there is one that the iconic racer calls his craziest.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s classic car collection includes, of course, cars built before he was born in 1974 or that were popular during his youth. The 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass is one of these cars. In a 2014 interview with Men’s Journal, the racing legend showed off a black Cutlass and called it a boat. But he also acknowledged his impact on NASCAR history. In 1978, 1979 and 1980, this was the car to have if you wanted to be competitive in the Daytona 500. Dale Earnhardt Jr. According to Men’s Journal, eight of the ten starters in the 1980 Daytona 500 race drove Cutlasses. Earnhardt admitted he didn’t like the car or its behavior.

What is the Oldsmobile Cutlass?

Later, the Oldsmobile division produced several subsidiaries, including the compact Cutlass Calais and the Cutlass Cruiser station wagon. Oldsmobile replaced the Cutlass with the Achieva in 1992. However, the Cutlass name returned in 1997. Two years later, production of the Cutlass was definitively discontinued.

Earnhardt used his large capital for his car collection

Forbes estimated Earnhardt Jr.’s earnings at $410 million, more than enough for him to put together as many cars as he wants. The 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass is one of those classic cars that was free to buy, at least during Earnhardt’s lifetime. Older cars in Earnhardt’s collection include a 1967 Camaro and a 1976 Laguna. The racing legend also owns a 1948 TK pickup with interesting designs. The exterior of the truck is teal with rust spots and, as he says, imperfections. However, a quick look inside reveals a car with a revised transmission and suspension. If Earnhardt is smart, he’ll make sure the machines are safe and not damaged. He doesn’t want to end up like baseball legend Reggie Jackson, who lost more than 30 classic cars in a warehouse fire. I like MotorBiscuit on Facebook.
