Many of us know the Aston Martin brand as the vehicle of international spies – aka James Bond. For decades, the manufacturer has produced miniature cars with such luxurious performance that they can be compared to the way I imagine driving an expensive leather watch. But the name Aston Martin is not only synonymous with polished spies and luxury, but also with a rich racing past that shows what the brand is capable of.
Aston Martin heritage in modern cars
Aston Martin has a long tradition of pop culture, racing and luxury. We recognize the badge of a luxury car produced by the brand and can’t help but stop and stare as you drive by. With cars like the Vantage designed for perfect dimensions, we can’t help but love the timelessness of these cars, year after year, generation after generation. But the brand is more than just a pretty face, and decades of pit crews and race teams have produced some incredible production cars that give ordinary racers a glimpse of that racing heritage.

Back to race
Aston Martin makes its comeback in Formula 1 this year. It has been 60 years since the marque last raced in Formula 1, although teams still use Aston Martins at other circuits around the world. This is just a small part of the changes the British manufacturer has undergone recently, and it shows us an attempt to get back into the arena and show that they are still relevant, both in motorsport and on the road.
Aston Martin has made this clear with the creation of the Aston Martin DBX, a luxury performance SUV that follows in the footsteps of brands such as Lamborghini that have taken to luxury performance SUVs.

The future of the brand
Back to the Formula 1 circuit: You’ll feel like it fits that particular brand that focuses on high performance with a healthy dose of luxury on the side. This is not only exciting for Formula 1 fans and James Bond fans, but also a sign of the future of the brand.
That’s where this brand should be, and I know the next chapter in our racing history will be incredibly exciting for the fans.
Lawrence Stroll, managing director of Aston Martin.
Racing is not only important for motorsports. Behind the scenes, race cars benefit from some of the latest technologies and features that allow our modern sports cars to reach their full potential. As engineers prepare to produce world-class race cars that can compete and hopefully win, these technologies may finally find their way into sports car production, meaning the future of road cars is about to see some big things.

The brand’s deep-rooted heritage is what makes it so distinctive and impressive, and the return to Formula One means not only that the legacy will continue, but also that the progress made will eventually be reflected in the production cars.
